The big news today was Senator Reid now backtracking and promising climate change legislation before immigration reform. But in a seeming effort to show the Democrats are close to ready to go on immigration reform, Senators Reid, Schumer and Menendez began circulating a detailed outline of a comprehensive immigration reform bill that appears to exclude Senator Graham. There are many positive things in the plan, a few worrisome ones and several new concepts. Incidentally, the new two stage legalization process looks very familiar. My friend has his I-485 filed and has got EAD/AP, but the priority date is so behind, that he has no chance of getting a green card before his marriage. So, as I understand he should be able to bring his wife on H4 (as long as he maintains H1). My question is: does he have to re-file for I-485 to include his wife and if so will the priority date remain the same as the first application?She needs to file her own I-485 but only when PD become current. She has the same PD as primary applicant.

Hi All,
My EB3 RIR is filed on Feb 2005. Waiting for LC to clear. Also H1B expires on Jun 2007. Waiting for H1B extension for another 1 year.
I would like to change my job once I get my H1B extension.
1) Can I change my Job during my one year H1B extension when my LC is not cleared?
2) Can I use my current PD (Feb 2005) when my new Company process LC again through EB2 PERM?
3) From the new company, once I get LC through EB2 PERM, can I apply H1B extension for 3 years?
Please advice. Waiting for you reply.

I am starting this thread for the people who are Greencard Holders and not married. Please share some thoughts for bringing their spouse here.
IV can help in this matter.
If all visa holders and citizens can bring their spouse instantly then why GC holder have to wait for many years after getting GC after many years.

I'm planning to file GC for my parents (along with adjustment of status) when they visit me in a couple of months.
I'd a couple of questions regarding the birth certificate requirement.
They were born in Undivided India (before Aug 1947) and their place of birth is now in Pakistan. They migrated to India and have lived in a suburb of Mumbai most of their lives.
- I am planning to get affidavit of birth proving their place and DOB. Does this affidavit need to be on a Indian Govt issued stamp paper to make it look official?
- How do I get around Non availability or No record of the birth certificate requirement as their place of birth is in Pakistan. Can the municipal authorities of Mumbai issue this document?
Can somebody please help by sharing their experience if they are/were in a similar situation.

Hi,
I got my H1b approved this year. My first name is set to FNU and my full name was added in last name. Now i have got it corrected in my passport as it was wrong in the first place. After my passport was corrected, I was advised to apply for H1B amendment. I have applied for H1B amendment in November. Also I was unable to get my SSN bcos of this name issue and SSN office is demanding to get I797 corrected before issuing the SSN. Now since I am waiting for my SSN and H1B amanedment. I am not paid. I want to know if I am still legal and I am in status? Please let me know the process I should follow if there are any?
This is extremely urgent and any help/advice in thsi regard wil lbe great.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports on today's citizenship swearing in of Irish-born James Patrick O'Donnell. Mr. O'Donnell immigrated to the US at the age of 4 in 1926 and fought for our country in World War II and won a Bronze Battle Star. How come a govt. organization that is never known to do things on time, all of sudden is able to approve 60000 GCs in such a short period ? Why did they have to do it by end of June ? If they had done that by end of July would anything have been different for the folks who were getting the Green Cards - NO.
I think this was all planned. There was a reason why the numbers were made current and there is a reason why the numbers became unavailable.
I think we should get to the bottom of this. This stinks ......
