You can always volunteer i guess..
Can we work for a Charity Organization without getting paid while on H1?
The work would probably be 2 hours a month.
Thanks,
Krishna

How much time does it take for 485 to get approved with a visa number available. I applied for 485 after my i-140 was approved. Does the priority date have anything to do with processing for 485?
Nobody know how long it takes to adjudicate I485 once your PD becomes current. A conservative guesstimate would be 6-8 months. The whole processing of I485 is driven by the PD.

From the last few days: LEADING HISPANIC DEMOCRAT WARNS OBAMA ON IMMIGRATION - Representative Javier Bacera (D-CA) warned President Obama that he's in danger of losing the support of the country's Hispanics over his failure to take action on immigration reform. From The Hill: A member of the House Democratic leadership said Wednesday that Latinos view President Barack Obama with 'suspicion' for failing to meet expectations. Rep. Xavier Becerra (Calif.), the House Democratic Caucus vice chairman, offered stern words for Obama, saying that the Latino population wants to see more from the White House on issues that are important to...

don't think their is a set time required. I know people that left their employer the day after gc arrived, know people that left 6 months after their approval and some that have worked for their employer even after receiving their green card for over 4 years. hope this helps

Hi
My company is converting my L1B to a L1A.I wanted to know if i can apply for a green card independently after my L1A has bee approved or does my company needs to process that application.
Thanks
All Employment Based green card has to be petitioned by the employer. So in your case, you would need to ask you employer to start the process. Only exception are people with "extrodinary ability" (the David Beckham's and Michael J Fox's) and people who fall under "National Interest Waiver" category (EB1 only - people who hold a Ph.D.).

Nothing to do with the STEM related visa bills that we were interested in. Nothing to do with immigration, nothing to do with things IV folks are interested in.

Immigration legislation in Congress ended on a sour note in 2010. The DREAM Act, after narrowly passing in the House of Representatives, failed to get the necessary 60 votes in the Senate required to overcome a threatened GOP filibuster. Comprehensive immigration reform never even came to a vote in the last Congress. What will the outlook be for immigration legislation in the 112th Congress which convenes beginning on January 3, 2011? The biggest change will be in the House of Representatives where the majority, and the committee chairmanships, will change from Democrats to Republicans. Representative Lamar Smith The new Chairman...
