Let's talk about how backlog has affected us or our green card process. Let's discuss, write, post here about how to ask law makers to increase visa numbers for green cards affected by retrogression. Let's ask the USCIS to revert for concurrent filing. Write about these. Write letters to editors, to law makers, to companies. Let's stay focussed. Already there is the CIR is stalled for lack of agreement between Sen. Frist and Sen. Reid.
Let's take this PD definition discussion offline, as at present this is not a goal of IV. Am I correct?
The priority date based on the person first entering the US on H1B visa, or converting to a H1 status from any other visa status in the US is an excellent one.
This eliminates all the issues that H1Bs face today when applying for a GC. Employer portability, Visa retrogression etc ( and not to mention employer manipulation of H1Bs workers in delaying to file GCs ) are applied in fairness to everyone. This takes the fear out of H1B workers to change jobs at will without regard to negative impact on their pending GC applications..

Just thought it will be an useful info.
Recently renewed NJ DL with EAD and expired I-94 (Paroled). Following documents were produced at Kilmer Rd DMV:
1) Current unexpired NJ DL
2) Passport with expired I-94 (Paroled)
3) EAD
4) SSN card
5) Address Proof (utility bill)
DL renewed until EAD expiry date PLUS 3 months.

IV members have saved you a lot of money on attorney phone calls, getting answers to medical test questions and other general questions. Please contribute to IV so that we can keep this effort going. While everybody is busy collecting documents and paperwork for 485, core IV again is doing there personal paperwork and + lobbying.

on the contrary, many people are discovering that their misperceptions aboutu legal immigs are wrong, and that before CIR the legal system needs to be fixed first.
I agree that our tone should not be negative, maybe not call it a boycott, but show them that we are protesting in a big and united way.
We have to differentiate ourselves from the illegals. Let the illegals do Rallies, Huger strikes etc.

I am keeping an eye on the funding drive... and it seems that there is progress but somewhat slow. I think we need new ideas to promote the same. What about giving IV T-Shirts to all those who contribute $100+ for our 20K to 50K drive?

You would think that USCIS is effecient and well managed, but the fact of the matter is that they are not.
If you think about what happened in last one month , it points out that things are in pretty bad shape untill take notice by affected people like us.
Well, if you do the direct calculations (eventhough it looks correct for most of us), it always results scary.
But that does not happen always. A Government Agency decided to accept that many applications in a month window, defintely it would not have been decided in a lunch or dinner meeting.
They should have known their limitations and how to handle the situation. If there are 20K 485 applications sitting at the storage, it would not create much problems. But it creates so much administration issues if the number is 600K applications.
One major issue is, every year they are going to receive 600K EAD renewals. They will never get time to work on 485, but life long working on renewing this EAD's and no more further GC processing.
So, its not going to be the case. Now they have money, even if it takes first year some more months, they may go for hiring more contracters OR spliting the applications across different centers processing them.
Its a big administration issue to the agency to keep all the applications pending than us.
So, no worries. There must be a solution ahead for us.

I am confused and think about this daily. I am here in US for the past 8+ years and I am 33 now.
I really envy all of you guys who can return to your country. I have been here 8+ years and I am 53. My country does not even give me a passport and in top of that I am stuck in the namecheck black hole.

I would say to follow your attorney's advice though I don't think of any issues with going for premium processing as you are with the same employer. My friend has recently filed I-140 under regular processing and got approval within 2 1/2 months. Just make sure if your attorney submitted porting request while filing new I-140 under EB2. All the best.

I'm telling them my condition, and I know there are lot of people in the same boat. Again you need to talk to the lawyer about GC cost. Emplyee can bear all the GC related cost.
