Just came across this map, while booking my hotel.

Its really Cool Map. Just type in Washington Monument or Whitehouse as your destination point and click Go. Now your destination is selected. Now un-check (or check) and then check each hotel listed on left, one by one. You will know how far is your hotel located from Monument or Whitehouse. Is it not cool?

But it looks like the lord of the anti-immigrants - Tom Tancredo - is going down to defeat in the Colorado governor's race. I have changed from h1 to f1 in 2002, but did not apply through the mail in status change process, just took my I20 and got it stamped in a Consulate outside US (Mexico in my case).
So not sure, how the mail in status change would affect you if you directly show up in a US Consulate. It is probably best to ask a Lawyer.

The law requires that you report any and all change of address change within 10 days of the change.
You can choose to use the online tool and complete an electronic Form AR-11 and notify USCIS to update your address on most pending cases. However, if you choose to do it by paper, then AR-11 will not update your address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS.

My original birth certificate has all the details needed, except that my last name is an initial, and not spelt out completely. Would I require an affidavit with an expanded last name?

As Birth Certificate is part of Initial evidence, 2 secondary evidence affidavits for incomplete/incorrect entries is always good for peace of mind. Search for numerous threads on Birth Certificates last month for affidavit format, who can provide etc.

October is usually a month where we see improvements as new visa numbers become available for a new fiscal year. Most categories showed forward movement though few jumps of more than a few months. If it was filed in the EB2 category, it is likely that they picked the case for a random audit. EB2 labors do get audited during PERM processing to ensure that the case does meet eligibility requirements for EB2. There is no clear pattern to this auditing though, some cases get audited and some do not.

I realize they dont acknowledge anywhere the lack of visa numbers as a problem with EB immigration. They only speak of processing times delays and hiring more staff to overcome that.

Sorry for posting this question again. but since I did not get an answer, I am posting again to see if some one can advise regarding this. I am trying to look up dates for H1 visa stamping in Canada and the website says no appointments for 6 weeks. I am thinking of going for visa stamping in July. is there any chance that they might open up some more appointments in the next few days even though it says unavailable currently? please post your comments and experiences regarding this.

Hello friends
I have filed the renewal of EAD (based on pening I485) with Texas service center in July 2008. My case has been moved to the regional office in dec 2008 (the notice said for faster processing :)).
Took the infopass in Jan 2009 and the IO could not locate my application at the center but contacted the Texas and said my application waiting on background check.
Contacted the senator. Now they can find my application in regional center.
But they gave the same reason as my background check is pending. They told the senator that they can not discuss any further details.
However the Texas service center says my background check came clean long back.
Do they do background checks for renewing the EAD application?
Can they wait on any background check for 10 months to give a document that is valid for 1/2 years?
